Reimagining ATTENTION! by Kesha, Slayyyter & Rose Gray as a Dark Club Track
Producing Songs I’ve Never Heard: ATTENTION! by Kesha, Slayyyter & Rose Gray [EPISODE 16]
Kesha is back for round two on the channel because how could I resist a collab with Slayyyter on her new album?
The last time she showed up in this series (YIPPEE-KI-YAY with T-Pain), the original caught me way off guard with its full-blown country vibes. So this time around, I didn’t make any assumptions. Rose Gray was a wildcard too since I wasn’t familiar with her sound yet, but with Slayyyter in the mix, I had a feeling this one would be fun.
🎤 Here’s the acapella if you want to play along and hear what I heard first:
Lyrically, the song delivered exactly what I hoped for—unhinged, high-gloss chaos in the best way. And honestly, Rose Gray’s verse might’ve been my favorite. The vocal production was packed with glitchy edits and cool layering, which definitely felt like my kind of track.
For this one, I pulled sounds from Serum 2 Mutated DnB by Test Press. It definitely felt like a match for the attitude of the acapella, so I downloaded a bunch of those and got to work.
The biggest challenge this week was figuring out the key. The verses and hook felt like they were in two different places, and when I finally landed on something during Rose Gray’s section (which, of course, was last 🙃), the chorus clashed hard. I ended up reworking the earlier sections to match the key of her verse instead, which honestly felt like the right move. Once that was sorted, everything else came together pretty fast.
Fun fact - I noticed mid-edit, this was another Pink Slip production! I feel like he’s been involved in every track I’ve been drawn to lately, working with all my faves this year.

The original track was SO good! It was high-energy, in-your-face, but built on a surprisingly laid-back, 90s house-inspired groove. The hooks felt like a callback to Animal-era Kesha, and Rose Gray really won me over. I’m definitely excited to check out more of her music now.
Compared to my version, I think I just went darker (as usual). I leaned into distorted, grittier synths, while the original went for a smoother Sour Candy kind of vibe (Gaga stans know what I mean). We were definitely in the same ballpark genre-wise.
I also saw Kesha has another collab on this album featuring JADE?!I might need to make that one a future episode too.
Have you checked out Kesha’s latest album yet? Any favorite tracks so far?
